Send SMS through your phone

If you like our API and No-code tools, but want to use your own devices to send messages, this guide is for you.

By using this option, you can drastically lower the price per message, up to 100 times.

How it works?

For the setup to work, you first need to install our android app on your phone, and enable us to send SMS through it. Now, our server can send data to your application, about the messages that need to be sent, through Google's notification services.

Prerequisites

The setup usually takes around 10 minutes. Here is the list of required items for the setup to be effective:

  • Android phone - Our app does not support IOS devices. It is recommended to use spare device, since the service stability depends on it.

  • SIM card - We recommend you to buy SMS tariffs, since they can be much cheaper.

  • Internet connection

Instructions

  1. Create a TextLink account

  2. Download the app on your android phone, install it, and enable all the required permissions. Those permissions are needed for the app to work as expected.

  3. In the downloaded app, log in to the same account that you registered in the step 1

  4. You should now be able to send SMS to your SIM card's country. You can test the integration here. (or just try sending an SMS if you are already using our services)

  5. (Optional) If you require sending messages to another country, go to your Devices overview, select your device from the list of devices, and select the SIM card that you want to configure. A new page will open. On it, click the Add/Update a country button, and just select the country that you want to add. You can repeat the process for any countries that you would like to send the messages to.

Best practices

To get the most of your setup, you should keep your phone on charger, always connected to the internet with the app open at all times. You should also disable battery optimizations for the app, or keep the screen on at all times.

Congratulations! You have completed the setup. Now, you are just one step away from becoming a TextLink seller.

Being a TextLink seller means providing the messages sent through your phone to other users, earning cash for each message sent that way. These are the benefits of being a seller that you should consider:

  • You can easily set up a new passive income channel, possibly earning you hundreds of dollars each month

  • If you are selling messages to a destination, the messages that you are sending through that SIM card to that destination do not count against your monthly limit, meaning that you don't have to pay a cent to us
